Enemies in Curse of the Dead Gods come in several types : Basic Enemies, Elites, Champions and Bosses.

  • Basic Enemies are common and roam the Temples in small groups. There are six different types of Basic Enemies in each Temple.
  • Elites start to appear after the first section is completed. They are stronger and more resilient versions of these Basic Enemies.
  • Champions are solitary minibosses guarding the second and third sections of each Temple.
  • Bosses are the final enemies of their respective Temples, and are essentially even more dangerous Champions.

Each Temple has its own set of Enemies. Enemies get stronger after each Section.

Some Enemies (as well as some Curses) have the ability to Summon other foes, who are unique in that they do not generally trigger on-kill effects.

Summons[ | ]

Summons are enemies called by other enemies, or spawned due to the effect of certain Curses. They have a blue health bar instead of a red one. Their particularity is that they don't trigger most on-kill effects : they don't drop Gold nor loot, for example.

  • Note : it is assumed that this unique property was implemented for balance reasons, notably to prevent farming : while regular enemies have a fixed population, Summons can potentially spawn indefinitely if the Player lets summoning enemies alive. It isn't possible to "farm" Summons generated by Curses, but they still generate a lot of additional enemies. Allowing Summons to trigger on-kill effects would certainly be far too generous towards the Player and encourage them to focus on Weapons and Relics that rely on this type of effect.

However, Summons still refill one Stamina point on death, and hitting them (as well as Parrying or Perfect-Dodging them) resets the Greed Kill counter just like any other enemy.

Not all enemies types can summon others, or be summoned themselves. There are several possible Summons :

Note : the Champion of Death sometimes spawns enemies during his fight. These do not count as Summons : a Player who relies on on-kill effects (to get heal, for example) may take advantage of this. Of course, these enemies (depending on their type) may in turn summon other enemies, which will count as Summons.
